Dr. Schwartzman has been at SUNY Downstate for two decades. He currently serves as: Vice Chairman for the Department of Surgery
and the Associate General Surgery Program Director.

Dr. Schwartzman is currently a SUNY Downstate University Faculty Senator and was recently elected as a Healthcare Sector Representative for the SUNY-wide Faculty Senate, giving him a membership at the Executive Committee of the SUNY Faculty Senate.

Dr. Schwartzman is a Member of the Board of Medicine of the New York State and a physician liaison to the Board of the Athletic Trainers of the New Your State.

Dr. Schwartzman is a member of the Federation of the State Medical Boards. Dr. Schwartzman serves as a Governor of the Brooklyn/Long Island Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Schwartzman maintains a busy General Surgeon practice and provides a full range of high complexity surgical consultations and services.
