Aortic Stenosis – Open Heart Surgery Risks

share

Transcript

While each treatment option has its benefits, we should also discuss the risks. Traditional open-heart surgery has the risks of infection and bleeding. There could be complications with stroke, the procedure could go wrong… Furthermore, if you elect to perform transaortic valvular replacement, that also has its risks that include bleeding, failure of the valve to deploy correctly, stroke, arrhythmias, and so on and so forth. It is important to discuss with your doctor and prepare for these risks and weigh them with the benefits of having the valve replaced.
