Transcript

Prior to your surgery, you want to make sure you’re following all of the preoperative instructions that you were given prior to surgery. This includes stopping any anticoagulation medicines, including aspirin, heparin, Xarelto, Coumadin. These medications need to be stopped at least three to five days prior to your joint replacement surgery in order to prevent bleeding during surgery itself. This includes making sure we’ve stopped any blood thinning medications at least three to five days prior to surgery. Blood pressure medications may be asked to be stopped just the morning prior to surgery itself.
