Transcript

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, better known as BPPV. Occasionally, particles of crystals break free from the normal structures of the ear and will settle on one of the semicircular canals of the inner ear. The particle tends to sink to the lowest point of the canal. Certain positional changes such as rolling to one side in bed cause the crystals to move, resulting in the sensation of vertigo or room spinning, which can last less than a minute.
