Unfortunately, blepharitis seldom disappears completely. Some blepharitis causes may require more complex treatment plans, and even with successful treatment, blepharitis may recur. Treatment depends on the type of blepharitis. The key to treating most types of blepharitis is keeping the lids clean and free of crust. Applying warm compresses can loosen the crust, then gentle scrub with eyelid wash with mixture of water and over the counter lid cleansing product is the best and easiest home treatment for blepharitis. In cases involving bacterial infection, an antibiotic may be prescribed. Other at-home remedies include massaging the eyelids to clean out clogged oil glands after the warm compress, use of preservative-free artificial tears to help with eye dryness and irritation.
