For upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made into the upper eyelid along the crease of the eyelid. After careful dissection through the skin and delicate tissues, excess skin and fat are carefully removed. The tissues are then redraped and closed with thin, very fine suture. For lower blepharoplasty, an incision may be placed on the inside or outside of the lower eyelid. An outside incision is usually done to remove excess skin. While an inside incision is more appropriate for removal of excess fat of the lower eyelids.
