These individuals have a higher rate of successfully completing suicide as per the general population. And part of the borderline personality disorder that I observe from a clinical perspective is when these people are afraid that they’re going to be abandoned, one of the ways that they will try to make sure that individual stays with them is maybe a suicide attempt. But it can be a false, pseudo, suicide attempt, but they may actually be successful even though the attempt was more to kind of scare or manipulate the individual that they’re afraid that they may have lost. So these types of situations, you need to take the individual very serious with them because it can be a life-threatening disorder.
