You have to look at the individual with borderline from an individual perspective. So there are definitely levels, grades, of the personality disorder. So some people with borderline personality disorder, they’ll actually find themselves doing well in a intensive outpatient setting where they go into a clinic three to five times a week, and this can be for 4, 6, 8, 12 months. Some other individuals can just either have weekly therapy. Some other individuals can be successful with having biweekly or bimonthly therapy. Again, it’s all individually based, but the gold standard at this point for the person with the borderline personality disorder is dialectical behavioral therapy.
