Borderline Personality Disorder – Treatment Goals

The goal of treating a person with borderline personality disorder is really helping that person deal with their distress intolerance and trying to maintain that person’s emotional regulation. That is our goal. We want to try to have these people have a very stable and realistic perspective on themselves as well as those around them. So that is one of the goals of the dialectical behavioral therapy for individuals that suffer from the borderline personality disorder spectrum.
