BPH – Exercise

Well, so, the question occasionally comes up: what if I exercise more, will that somehow improve my bladder health or my prostate health? So a very important distinction comes about, and that is the difference between skeletal muscle, like the bicep, and smooth muscle, like the bladder, and what’s within the prostate. We can control skeletal muscle. We can build it, we can strengthen it. Smooth muscle has a mind of its own. And we can’t do anything to improve the strength of the muscle in the prostate or the bladder. So I think the idea of somehow fighting our way through this, you know, may be true if you have weak arms and you want to get stronger, not so true about exercise and its effect on BPH or bladder health.
