BPH – Overview

Benign prostatic hyperplasia, which means benign growth or enlargement of cells in the prostate. The differences will be in terms of severity. BPH ranges from just a change in the cell architecture, which may not translate into urinary symptoms, to a man who has mild symptoms, moderate symptoms, severe symptoms, and then urinary retention. So BPH is a spectrum of presentations, ranging from no symptoms, very mild symptoms, moderate symptoms, severe symptoms, causing urinary retention. Just about all men are at risk for developing VPH. Again, the difference is is going to be how it manifests, how severe it is.
