BPH is an extremely common condition. As a rule of thumb, we see BPH in about 60% of men in their sixties, and about 80% of men in their eighties. If we do autopsy studies, we can see some evidence of BPH, even in men, in their thirties and forties. Urinary obstruction develops over time in men with BPH.
