One question I get in the cosmetic side of things is, what if I get breast augmentation? Are you going to be able to check me for breast cancer when the time comes for my mammograms? And the answer to that is yes. As long as there’s enough native breast tissue, we can do what’s called an Eklund view in the radiology or mammogram machine, which is where we squeeze the breast tissue, your native tissue, off the implant, and do a mammogram that way. Sometimes there’s not enough tissue available, and if that’s the case, then we have to rely on ultrasound to check the breast tissue, which is not quite as good as the mammogram.
