Transcript

So prior to your surgery, your plastic surgeon and your surgical oncologist will coordinate. They’ll determine what’s the best incision to access the breast to remove the breast tissue and to provide the best reconstructive options. One of the other common things that the surgical oncologist and the plastic surgeon coordinate with is nipple sparing mastectomy, which is where we leave the nipple in place, or does the nipple get removed. That is determined a lot by where the cancer is, the size of the cancer, and how the native breasts look.
