The coronavirus pandemic has provided a crash course in staying safe from viral infection. This virus is very contagious and spread by droplets from coughs or sneezes, as well as with saliva and other body fluids. Limiting contact with sick people is the best start to prevent disease. Hand-washing and masks as well as social distancing are the best way to prevent spread of the viruses and the best way not to catch them. Coughing or sneezing into an elbow is better than using your hands and avoiding touching your face or eating with your hands is also helpful. Influenza and coronavirus have similar symptoms and both can cause serious complications, including death. By vaccinating against influenza, you can protect yourself from the flu.
