Fatigue is one of the most common side effects for those going through cancer treatment. And for certain people, fatigue can continue after treatment’s over. Being exhausted can affect meal preparation and keeping healthy snacks on hand can be helpful in a situation like this. Examples include dried fruits, cheese, or whole grain crackers, graham crackers. For a short timeframe, relying on convenience products like instant rice or ready to eat foods can be useful. However, check the product label for healthy choices. Low in sodium and high in protein and fiber is best. Look into a grocery membership to eliminate going to the store and getting the perk of home delivery. When you’re not feeling tired, prepare food in larger quantities and freeze leftovers in meal size portions. Make smoothies or yogurt shakes that can be kept in the refrigerator for healthy yet fulfilling snacks. If your fatigue is getting in the way of your daily activities, talk to your doctor to see if you would benefit from any additional treatment.
