Eczema or atopic dermatitis is related to allergies actually. Several allergies that can be associated with this condition include environmental or seasonal allergies and allergic rhinitis. Sometimes patients with a predisposition to atopic dermatitis also have other allergies, such as egg or peanut allergies. In addition, certain job exposures such as hairdressing, cleaning domestically or industrially, performing domestic duties at home, caregiving, and farming expose the skin to irritants and common allergens, which tend to aggravate eczema or atopic dermatitis. It is an important thing to keep in mind when choosing career options or occupations, as it is easier to choose a suitable occupation than changing it later in life once these allergens and irritants are discovered to be a significant problem.
