- Are you a Doctor?
If this isn’t your first asthma attack, you probably know your triggers. Sometimes, pollen, mold or environmental causes can trigger asthma. This can include pets, humidity, air pollution, and weather changes. If you smoke, you should quit. Otherwise, work with your regular doctor to try to find out the triggers for these breathing problems. Then you can figure out how to avoid them and how to reduce the impact on you. Sometimes doctors in the ER will tell you to use the inhalers or nebulizers at a higher dose or more frequently. This is okay to do until you follow up with your primary care team. So long as you feel like you can breathe, you can stay home. Otherwise, come on back into the ER. We’ll be happy to take care of you.
