When thinking about the medications that could treat erectile dysfunction, as we all know, the main ones are the big ones. The most popular ones are Viagra and Cialis. These PD5 inhibitors, is what we call them. Phosphodiesterase type five inhibitors. What these do is they ultimately lead to increased arterial influence of the penis and in doing so, create a good erection. Erectile dysfunction pills help address most men’s erectile dysfunction, but 70 to 80% of men do well on the popular Viagra, Cialis, as well as some other PD5 inhibitors, as we like to call them, phosphodiesterase type five inhibitors. What these do is ultimately through a cascade at the molecular level, what they do is they cause for smooth muscle or they lead to smooth muscle relaxation of the arterial supply to the penis. And when the smooth muscles of the artery are dilated and relaxed, that increases blood flow into the penis and allows for a much stronger and more rigid reaction.
