Glioblastoma – Prognosis

Transcript

Taken as a whole, the prognosis for glioblastoma is very poor. The majority of patients don’t live more than two years and recurrence is universal. Prognosis depends somewhat on molecular genetic subtypes of glioblastoma, and most major brain tumor centers now perform testing to differentiate these subtypes. Beyond stratifying for prognosis, molecular genetic testing can sometimes determine eligibility for clinical trials and occasionally identify targeted therapies that might be useful that are not part of the standard treatment paradigm.
