Gout is due to increased uric acid level in your body. Uric acid is a normal byproduct of our cellular metabolism. We also consume uric acid in different food that are high in purine. In normal individuals, the kidney excrete most of the uric acid in our body. Those who have gout have reduced excretion of the uric acid from the kidneys. This predispose to gout. In rare instances, people could have increased production of uric acid in the body. This typically happens in people who are getting treatment for different type of cancers. Many of you are wondering on how you could get gout. You are predisposed to have gout if you have high level of uric acid in your blood. Uric acid is a normal byproduct of cellular recycling process. Uric acid is formed from the degradation of purine which are normal product in our body.
