Heart Attack – Discharge Stress Reduction

share

Transcript

After you’ve been discharged from the hospital, it could be like a very stressful situation. You’re adapting to new diagnosis, new medications. It could be a very nerve-wracking time. Some common discharged stress reduction techniques include going for walks for 20 minutes with loved ones, cooking with family, watching TV or board games, reading books, hobbies, playing instruments, meditating, doing some yoga, perhaps getting a personal trainer and doing exercise on a regular basis. Listening to music is always a good one. It’s very important to manage your stress, as stress is a risk factor for heart disease and heart attacks. Getting in control of your stress and your nervous system will lower your blood pressure, lower your blood sugars. It allows proper digestion, proper and adequate recovery and rest on the body. Please formulate a plan with your doctor on stress reduction techniques, as this is a very vital and often overlooked part of your health.
