When I think of polycystic ovary syndrome, the short term consequences, I think of the two “P”s periods and pregnancy. We really want you to try to have regular periods, especially when you’re not on birth control pills. And as young women, when you’re starting to skip your period, the uterus can get overwhelmed with unopposed estrogen, and that’s not healthy for us. So it’s really important to talk to your doctor about how to regulate your periods and keep them as regular as possible.
