Infant Reflux – When to see a Doctor

In the vast majority of cases, reflux does not need special medical attention, and more relevantly, there’s not a lot we can do to make it better. Understandably, new moms and dads want to do everything they can to help their infant. Most of the time, this isn’t going to be something that’s benefited by medications or other issues, but there are rare cases where you should see a doctor. Does your child have problems with breathing? Problems swallowing? Are they dehydrated? Are they not gaining weight well? Did the symptoms start before they were two weeks old? Did the symptoms start after they were six months old? Lastly, if they’re more irritable than usual and vomiting greater amounts with more force, that’s a good reason to see a doctor as well.
