Influenza – Emergency Room and Risks

June 30, 2021

Transcript

If you cannot keep down food or fluid, even with medications given by your ER doctor, if you are unable to breathe, and if you develop chest pain or lightheadedness that causes you to faint, come back right away to the ER. Influenza can trigger flares of asthma, COPD, and congestive heart failure and puts those individuals who have those diseases at higher risk of serious complications, including death. People with weakened immune systems, including infants, the elderly, cancer patients and people with AIDS have trouble fighting the virus.
