Kidney Cancer – Risk Factors

Two main known risk factors for kidney cancer are excess body weight or obesity, and tobacco exposure. In fact, some studies estimate that if we could just eliminate smoke exposure and excess body weight, about half of all kidney cancers would never form. Other risk factors for kidney cancer include high blood pressure and kidney failure. In rare cases, a genetic component is responsible for development of kidney cancer.
