Not all kidney stones are the same. In fact, there are four main types of kidney stones. The most common are calcium stones. And in that category, there are two types: calcium oxalate stones and calcium phosphate stones. Second category is uric acid stones, struvite stones, which are commonly associated with chronic urinary tract infections, and finally, a more rare type of stone called cystine stones.
