Like any surgery, the potentially lasting effects of any operation largely is dependent on how the procedure is done. A laminectomy should solve a person’s pain if the cause is from spinal stenosis. A laminectomy that is performed through a less invasive approach and causes less damage to muscles and ligaments may help preserve a person’s spinal alignment and may cause less pain.
