Liver Resection – Procedure

share

Transcript

Many imaging studies will usually be needed to plan the surgery, see well the liver anatomy and its vessels and the location of the tumor. Once the surgery is scheduled, you usually come to the hospital the morning of the surgery and plan to stay a few days. We approach liver resections in a minimally invasive manner. So we’ll make little incisions, for instruments and other incision just big enough to remove the piece of liver out. The surgery itself is anywhere from two to four hours and the patient will usually go to the recovery room afterwards and then to the floor.
