Melanoma – Conclusion

May 20, 2021

In conclusion, melanoma is a potentially life-threatening illness. Early detection is most frequently curative. Any lesion, particularly if pigmented and is unusual or has grown, changed or acted differently by bleeding or itching, should be evaluated. A family history or increased ultraviolet exposure are risk factors. Individuals with these should be evaluated and monitored over time. This also includes those with multiple moles and a number of atypical moles. Treatment of thin or early melanoma is curative surgically, whereas more advanced melanoma is approached in a multi-disciplinary manner.
