Menopausal women are definitely at greater risk of weight gain. And the reason for that is their metabolism changes, sensitivity of the insulin receptor changes, and they start to gain weight around their central abdominal area. So as growth hormone levels decline, estrogen levels decline, progesterone levels decline, testosterone levels decline, which is really important for lean muscle mass versus fat mass. All of that can impact metabolism, impact our ability to burn and store fat and lead to weight gain.
