So can a person give narcissistic personality disorder to their children? It depends on how they interact with their children. If there’s no empathy, if the person is very grandiose, the values that such an individual would transmit to their children is not really in their child’s best interest. So it’s not necessarily a genetic per se, just by narcissistic personality, it’s the values, it’s the upbringing that leads to problems, leads to insecurity, not really valuing, having a very grandiose, entitled perspective that can adversely affect that individual, that child, as they’re growing up.
