Now there’s a new device that’s radiofrequency treatment. And this is done in the office under a little local anesthesia. With this treatment, called the VIVAER procedure, a radiofrequency wand is used to heat up and reshape the lateral or side wall of the nasal valve, and giving you a few extra millimeters of space causes a big difference in your breathing. That same wand that we use to treat the side wall of the nose can be used to treat areas in your septum that are swollen, called swell bodies. And it can also be used for the nasal turbinate to shrink that down. And so with one device, you’re able to treat multiple locations of obstruction, and this is all done under local anesthesia. The procedure itself is approximately 15 to 20 minutes in length of time.
