Patients come in usually with complaints of difficulty breathing through the nose, increasing mucus, difficulties with their sense of smell, dry mouth due to chronic breathing through their mouth rather than their nose, and sometimes difficulty breathing through just one side of the nose. Sometimes these symptoms are temporary and resolve on their own, however, if they persist, then medical evaluation is usually recommended. Symptoms of difficulty breathing through only one side of the nose are even more important to be appropriately evaluated.
