Most nasal polyps are from chronic inflammation. They are benign and they occur in patients with allergies, aspirin sensitivity, cystic fibrosis, or in patients with bad infections. However, there are other polyps that are more aggressive. Polyps that occur only on one side of the nose may be the type called an inverted papilloma. These polyps are more aggressive. They have a high chance of recurrence, and can even transform and become a cancer.
