The nerve block will help you control your pain during and after surgery. There are many advantages to peripheral nerve blocks. A reduced risk of what we call post-op nausea and vomiting. Meaning you get sick to your stomach because of the anesthetic. Improved postoperative pain management. Reduce a need for a pain medication during recovery, including opioids. We also decrease a need for general anesthesia, which expedites recovery and discharge from the hospital or the ambulatory surgery center.
