Nose Bleeds – Nighttime Bleeds

In your bedroom if the humidity is very low, either cranking up the air conditioner or dead of winter and the humidity is very, very low all around us, spending time in your bedroom can also cause a drop in humidity in your nose, which can cause more dryness. The other reason is that gravity is taking over. So when you’re lying flat, there’s more blood rushing to your head. And there’s more blood rushing to the area if you’ve got a small injury or a small area where the lining is thin, that can increase pressure in the vessels there, and that lining can break apart and you can end up with a nosebleed. We also don’t realize what we’re doing at night. Oftentimes we’ll rub our face or scratch our face, or maybe even touch our nose while we’re sleeping, inadvertently. And we can also cause what’s called digital trauma where we actually can scratch the inside of the nose or peel off a scab or crust that might have formed over an old area that might’ve been bleeding. And that can cause nosebleeds as well.
