Now let’s talk about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. So in the past ovarian cancer was known as the silent killer. This was because it was thought that the symptoms didn’t develop until it was too late and the chances of survival or cure were poor. However, there have been many studies that show otherwise. There are several symptoms that are much more likely to occur in women with ovarian cancer than in the general population. Even the patients with early stage cancer, these symptoms are bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, urinary symptoms like urgency or frequency. As you can tell, these are very common symptoms that all of us experience from time to time. However, the key is when these symptoms occur as a combination or on a more frequent basis. Women with ovarian cancer report a combination of these symptoms, and they usually report persistent daily symptoms for several weeks. Those who are experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention, which may improve their outcome and result in early diagnosis.
