There’s always a potential for recurrence with a pectus carinatum, and it only is when you are still growing taller, because that’s when things are still changing potentially. If a patient does notice that he or she is starting to have a recurrence, then I ask them to place the brace on again. Sometimes they’ll need to do the entire regimen again of bracing if it’s been several years, and other times it will just be like a retainer where they only need it for a couple of weeks and then it’s fine again. So everyone is slightly different in terms of that.
