Pessaries are a non-surgical way to deal with pelvic organ prolapse. They are similar to diaphragms that used to be used for birth control in the past. They are soft and flexible devices that are inserted into the vagina to prevent the organs from protruding into the vaginal cavity. Although pessaries are not considered a cure, they can help many women alleviate their symptoms to avoid or delay surgery.
