The key things we look for as physicians when we’re trying to treat or diagnose Peyronie’s disease are number one, the angle of curvature. We want to see how bad that curvature really is. Number two, we want to know whether there’s associated erectile dysfunction associated with it. We want to know whether or not there’s any penile shortening going on. If the curvature or the tethering is so bad that now your penis is a lot shorter, and that’s something that’s very important to a lot of guys, most guys. So these are the types of things that we look for. Some guys will get a penile ultrasound as part of the diagnostic workup, or an erection is induced, and what we do during that time is we see the vascular, the arterial supply to the penis, we assess the venous resistance, and also we look at the degree of curvature. We’re able to accurately assess and see exactly how curved the penis is and where it is. And identifying where that plaque is and seeing what that plaque looks like, it gives us a little bit more information in terms of treating and figuring out what option or what treatment option is best for you.
