Peyronie’s disease is when there’s a plaque or scar on the erectile bodies of the penis, which leads to penile tethering or curvature. The way I like to explain it is if you think about the penis as a balloon, and you put a piece of duct tape on one particular side of it, and you try to inflate that balloon, what happens is the balloon will inflate, however that portion, that portion that has duct tape on it, won’t. So what happens that area stays constricted and the balloon will curve in that direction because that area is not necessarily expanded. So that’s really a simple way of thinking of Peyronie’s disease and what causes it. It’s a very common issue as well. What we’re learning now is about five to 10% of guys are actually afflicted or have issues with Peyronie’s disease. And it’s one of those things that since it’s such a taboo subject to talk about, it’s something that a lot of guys are embarrassed to talk about, you don’t go see a specialist, you don’t go see anybody about it, you just kind of live with it, until later on it becomes so severe that they’re really bothered by it. But it’s a very common condition that a lot of guys actually deal with, but there are good treatment options available for this currently.
