Peyronie’s Disease- Ultrasound

Transcript

Sometimes your physician may recommend a penile ultrasound as part of your diagnostic workup. The reason behind the penile ultrasound is it provides an inside look of the penis, not just measuring the arterial inflow, not just measuring the venous resistance, but also seeing and trying to identify where that plaque is. Sometimes the plaque isn’t so easy to identify on the outside skin. So what the ultrasound does is we’re able to see it, we’re able to identify where it is and get a sense of what it looks like, whether it’s calcified, whether it’s a soft plaque… All of these things, which not just help with the diagnosis, but really help dictate treatment options going forward.
