share

Transcript

So the clinical definition of postpartum depression is that you’re feeling all these symptoms for two weeks or more. If it goes away after a few days, that’s just the baby blues. You may cry a lot. You may feel sad or hopeless or overwhelmed beyond what you think you should be feeling. You may have headaches and other bodily aches that won’t go away. Your eating and sleeping habits are different than normal, and not just because you have a newborn. Some of these symptoms similar to typical signs of regular depression. In addition, particularly to postpartum, you may feel like hurting yourself or the baby, not bonding with the baby and feel like you’re a worthless mother. The minute you or someone else sees signs of postpartum depression, you absolutely should seek guidance from your doctor, OB, or a midwife. It can literally be lifesaving. There’s no need to suffer.
