Transcript

What are the risk factors for developing psoriasis? Risk factors for developing psoriasis include epidemiological characteristics, such as middle age, fair or Caucasian skin, and family history of similar rashes like psoriasis. Other risk factors include inflammatory, genetic, vascular and environmental risk factors. In addition, a psoriasis flare may be precipitated by withdrawing from steroids or concomitant use of other medications. It may also be triggered or brought on through an immune process called koebnerization, in which trauma to the skin causes the onset of psoriasis plaques that are new.
