Psychosis – Treatment

share

Transcript

How they work? They work by helping reduce the activity of dopamine in the brain and helping reduce some of the symptoms associated with psychosis. One of the other things to think about in terms of treatment is psychological support. For example, something like helping people understand what the symptoms are of psychosis, helping them understand how they react to it, or how they interpret it. This can help build lasting changes in day-to-day life that can help reduce some of the distress or impairment that might be caused by experiencing psychotic symptoms. The third thing to think about from a treatment point of view is social support. That might mean advising or speaking with families as to how to look after or support patients who are experiencing psychosis. And it might involve support, for example, with studies or returning to work, that kind of thing. All in all, the giveaway method, the last method to think about is, the earlier you seek help, the more options there are available for treatment. So if you have any concerns or are worried about any symptoms of psychosis, please make sure you see your doctor as soon as you can, to make sure that you can have a full assessment of your needs.
