Transcript

When a patient comes to my office with restless leg syndrome, especially if it’s not yet been diagnosed, they can feel kind of weird and alienated from other people because they have a sensation that they’re experiencing that most people don’t. And they can wonder if there’s something wrong with them, or if it’s indicative of a terrible neurologic disease, you may have a lot of fear and worry around it. It is unusual and it’s hard to describe, and everybody seems to present in a slightly different way, but those uncomfortable sensations, which are hard to describe, typically are uncomfortable. Therefore they may have itching, aching, pain, burning… Whatever they have, it’s important to just tell the doctor how it feels and know that once we make the diagnosis, do a few labs and try a variety of medications, they can feel much better.
