The doctor will perform a thorough physical exam, including looking in the nose with a camera if you see an ENT doctor. The doctor will determine if this may be allergic in nature and order an allergy test, either a skin test or a blood test. Imaging studies are not necessary to make the diagnosis of rhinitis. So CAT scans and x-rays will not be performed for this particular condition.
