Hypoallergenic covers for pillows and bedding, removing carpet, especially from the bedrooms, allergy avoidance, medicines, including nose sprays and oral tablets are a mainstay of therapy, either as monotherapy, one pill or one spray, or in combination. Nasal steroids, oral and nasal anti-histamines, anticholinergics, antileukotrienes, these are names of the types of medicines your doctor will choose to treat this condition with. Sometimes reducing the inferior turbinates, a structure inside the nose, is recommended. And that’s done in the operating room surgically. Cryotherapy in the nose has been shown to yield a significant improvement in rhinitis symptoms. There are reports in the literature of acupuncture helping with chronic rhinitis as well.
