Transcript

There are no procedures to treat scabies, and scabies does not require surgery. However, a skin biopsy may be performed for histology, which can identify the eggs or the mite as well as epidermal changes that may be consistent with the scabies infestation. In addition, a skin scraping with mineral oil can be done of one of these suspected areas, such as in between the fingers’ webbed spaces, which sometimes will reveal a mite or eggs underneath the microscope.
